Fortunately, no one was hurt but the violence was not surprising, given the chaotic situation that exists in and around the club on Friday nights. The shooting was a major topic of discussion at the last board meeting. Fortunately, Marjorie Hicks, director of the Golden Triangle Neighborhood Association (GTNA), was in attendance. It was agreed that this issue is one that would be best handled by the GTNA as it effects far more than just our building. There is a meeting of the GTNA this coming Monday morning at 08.30 at Channel 6 (Bannock and 10th). Board members Frank DeBord and Karen Landers will attend the meeting. We have learned that a representative from La Rhumba's management will also be there. At an earlier meeting, the owner of La Rhumba, Chris Swank promised the board that if the situation on Friday Hip Hip nights ever got out of hand he would switch formats to something more tame, perhaps Polka. |
